Building Bridges of Knowledge: VASEA-WA Meets Vietnam’s New Consul General in Perth (By Multicultural Press Team)
On 15 June 2026, representatives of the Vietnam-Australia Scholars & Experts Association – Western Australia Chapter (VASEA-WA) were welcomed to the Vietnamese Consulate General in Perth for a cordial and productive meeting with Vietnam’s newly appointed Consul General, Pham Hai Anh.
The meeting marked an important step in strengthening connections between the Vietnamese diplomatic mission in Western Australia and the growing network of Vietnamese scholars, researchers, professionals, and industry experts contributing to both Australian and Vietnamese society.
VASEA is an Australian-based not-for-profit organisation established to foster collaboration between Australia and Vietnam through education, research, innovation, and professional exchange. Bringing together scholars and experts of Vietnamese heritage living and working across Australia, the organisation serves as a platform for sharing knowledge and expertise while contributing to the prosperity and well-being of both nations.
During the discussion, VASEA-WA representatives introduced the Association’s current activities and outlined several upcoming initiatives. These include programs aimed at connecting academics, researchers, entrepreneurs, and professionals with opportunities for collaboration across borders, particularly in areas of science, technology, innovation, education, agriculture, and industry.
Consul General Pham Hai Anh expressed strong support for the Association’s mission and highlighted Vietnam’s growing interest in engaging overseas Vietnamese intellectuals and professionals. He noted that the Vietnamese Government is actively encouraging experts of Vietnamese heritage around the world to contribute their knowledge, experience, and innovative ideas to the country’s scientific and technological development.
The conversation reflected a shared belief that meaningful partnerships between government, universities, industry, and the global Vietnamese community can create lasting benefits for both Australia and Vietnam.
Several participants discussed emerging models of innovation that connect academia, business, and government—a framework often referred to internationally as the “Triple Helix” model. Such collaborations have played a significant role in advancing research commercialisation, entrepreneurship, and technological innovation in countries around the world.
Western Australia itself offers valuable examples of how government investment, universities, and private enterprise can work together to support emerging industries. Participants explored how lessons learned from these experiences might contribute to future collaborations involving Vietnam, particularly in sectors such as biotechnology, advanced agriculture, health research, renewable energy, strategic minerals, and technology-driven enterprise.
The meeting comes at a significant time in Vietnam–Australia relations. Earlier this month, Consul General Pham Hai Anh met with representatives of Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Western Australia to discuss expanding cooperation between Vietnam and Western Australia in education, science and technology, trade and investment, energy, strategic minerals, high-tech agriculture, and tourism.
These priorities align closely with the interests and expertise of many members of VASEA, creating opportunities for scholars and professionals to contribute to initiatives that support economic growth, innovation, and people-to-people connections between the two countries.
Beyond policy discussions, the gathering reflected something equally important: the willingness of a diverse community of Vietnamese professionals in Australia to remain connected to their heritage while helping build bridges across cultures, institutions, and generations.
As VASEA-WA continues to develop its programs and partnerships, the Association is well positioned to serve as a catalyst for collaboration between Australia and Vietnam. With support from diplomatic, academic, and industry partners, initiatives such as these demonstrate how diaspora communities can play a meaningful role in advancing international understanding and shared prosperity.
Knowledge nowadays has become one of the most powerful bridges between nations. The meeting between VASEA-WA and the Consulate General of Vietnam in Perth offered a promising example of how those bridges can be strengthened through dialogue, cooperation, and a common commitment to the future.
VASEA-WA Gặp Gỡ Tân Tổng Lãnh sự Việt Nam tại Perth: Kết Nối Tri Thức, Thúc Đẩy Hợp Tác Việt Nam – Australia
Chiều ngày 15/6/2026, đại diện Hội Trí thức và Chuyên gia Việt Nam – Australia, Chi nhánh Tây Australia (VASEA-WA) đã có buổi gặp gỡ thân mật và trao đổi ý nghĩa với ông Phạm Hải Anh, tân Tổng Lãnh sự Việt Nam tại Perth.
Buổi gặp diễn ra trong không khí cởi mở, đánh dấu một bước khởi đầu tích cực trong việc tăng cường kết nối giữa cộng đồng trí thức, chuyên gia người Việt tại Tây Australia với cơ quan đại diện ngoại giao của Việt Nam tại bang Tây Australia.
VASEA là tổ chức phi lợi nhuận được thành lập tại Australia với mục tiêu thúc đẩy hợp tác giữa Australia và Việt Nam thông qua các hoạt động học thuật, nghiên cứu, đổi mới sáng tạo và kết nối chuyên môn. Hội quy tụ các học giả, nhà nghiên cứu, chuyên gia và doanh nhân gốc Việt đang sinh sống và làm việc trên khắp Australia, tạo diễn đàn để chia sẻ kiến thức, kinh nghiệm và đóng góp cho sự phát triển của cả hai quốc gia.
Tại buổi làm việc, đại diện VASEA-WA đã giới thiệu khái quát về các hoạt động của Hội trong thời gian qua cũng như những chương trình dự kiến triển khai trong tương lai. Các sáng kiến tập trung vào việc kết nối giới học thuật, chuyên gia và doanh nghiệp, tạo điều kiện cho các hoạt động hợp tác trong các lĩnh vực khoa học – công nghệ, giáo dục, nông nghiệp công nghệ cao, y sinh, đổi mới sáng tạo và phát triển cộng đồng.
Ông Phạm Hải Anh bày tỏ sự quan tâm và ủng hộ đối với các hoạt động của VASEA. Ông cho biết Việt Nam hiện đang đặc biệt chú trọng việc thu hút nguồn lực tri thức người Việt Nam ở nước ngoài tham gia vào quá trình phát triển khoa học, công nghệ và đổi mới sáng tạo của đất nước. Theo ông, cộng đồng chuyên gia, học giả và doanh nhân gốc Việt tại Australia sở hữu nhiều kinh nghiệm và năng lực chuyên môn quý báu, có thể đóng góp thiết thực cho các chương trình phát triển của Việt Nam trong giai đoạn mới.
Một nội dung nổi bật được trao đổi tại cuộc gặp là việc thúc đẩy các mô hình hợp tác giữa trường đại học, doanh nghiệp và cơ quan quản lý nhà nước. Đây là mô hình đã được nhiều quốc gia phát triển áp dụng thành công nhằm chuyển giao tri thức từ nghiên cứu sang ứng dụng thực tiễn, thúc đẩy đổi mới sáng tạo và phát triển kinh tế dựa trên tri thức.
Các đại biểu cũng chia sẻ những kinh nghiệm thực tiễn từ Tây Australia trong việc hỗ trợ nghiên cứu, khởi nghiệp công nghệ và thương mại hóa các kết quả khoa học. Những kinh nghiệm này có thể trở thành cơ sở tham khảo hữu ích cho các chương trình hợp tác giữa Australia và Việt Nam trong tương lai, đặc biệt ở các lĩnh vực như công nghệ sinh học, y tế, nông nghiệp hiện đại, năng lượng và khai khoáng chiến lược.
Cuộc gặp diễn ra trong bối cảnh quan hệ Việt Nam – Australia đang phát triển mạnh mẽ trên nhiều lĩnh vực. Trước đó, Tổng Lãnh sự Phạm Hải Anh đã có buổi làm việc với Văn phòng Bộ Ngoại giao và Thương mại Australia (DFAT) tại Tây Australia nhằm thúc đẩy hợp tác giữa Việt Nam và bang Tây Australia trong các lĩnh vực giáo dục – đào tạo, khoa học – công nghệ, thương mại – đầu tư, năng lượng, khoáng sản chiến lược, nông nghiệp công nghệ cao và du lịch.
Những định hướng hợp tác này có nhiều điểm tương đồng với các lĩnh vực hoạt động và thế mạnh của VASEA, mở ra cơ hội để cộng đồng trí thức và chuyên gia người Việt tại Australia tham gia sâu hơn vào các chương trình kết nối, chuyển giao tri thức và hợp tác phát triển giữa hai quốc gia.
Buổi trao đổi thể hiện tinh thần trách nhiệm và mong muốn đóng góp của cộng đồng trí thức người Việt ở nước ngoài đối với quê hương. Thông qua các hoạt động kết nối học thuật, nghiên cứu và đổi mới sáng tạo, VASEA-WA đang từng bước xây dựng những nhịp cầu tri thức, góp phần làm sâu sắc hơn mối quan hệ Đối tác Chiến lược Toàn diện giữa Việt Nam và Australia.
Tri thức là nguồn lực phát triển và là chiếc cầu nối bền vững giữa các dân tộc. Cuộc gặp giữa VASEA-WA và Tổng Lãnh sự Việt Nam tại Perth thể hiện tinh thần hợp tác ấy để những ý tưởng, kinh nghiệm và khát vọng cống hiến cùng gặp nhau vì một tương lai chung thịnh vượng hơn cho cả Việt Nam và Australia.
