Shangluo, Shaanxi, China | October 1, 2026

The historic and culturally rich city of Shangluo, Shaanxi Province, provided the setting for a special literary gathering on the morning of October 1, bringing together poets, writers, artists and cultural representatives for an occasion celebrating poetry, creativity and international cultural exchange. Held at the Shanquan Literature and Art Museum, the gathering featured the presentation of the 2026 Top Ten Poets Award of the Intergalactic Poets Organization and a ceremony marking the conferral of an Honorary Doctorate in Literature associated with the Egyptian Golden Thinkers Forum for Poetry and Literature. The occasion recognised Mr. Dong Faliang and marked an important moment in his literary life, celebrating his achievements and the beginning of a new chapter of recognition in literature.

The programme featured the presentation of awards, guest remarks and a commemorative gathering in an atmosphere of warmth and cultural appreciation. The honours were presented by two international literary representatives, Võ Thị Như Mai (White Mai), poet, translator and publisher, President of Multicultural Press Australia and Oceania Coordinator of the World Poetry Movement; and Cao Shui, poet, writer and international literary representative, who serves in several key literary organisations.

Their participation reflected the connections that poetry and literature continue to build among writers and cultural communities across countries. For Mr. Dong Faliang, the occasion brought together two forms of literary recognition: an award acknowledging poetic achievement and an honorary academic distinction in literature. Both formed the focus of a gathering devoted to the enduring value of creative expression.

Known for its connection to the Qinling Mountains and the cultural heritage of Shaanxi, Shangluo offers a distinctive setting where landscape, history and artistic expression meet. The Shanquan Literature and Art Museum welcomed participants for this literary occasion, providing a space for conversation, appreciation and the exchange of ideas. The gathering also reflected the contribution of local cultural institutions and artistic communities to the preservation and development of literature and the arts.

Participants represented a range of literary, artistic, educational and cultural backgrounds. Their shared presence highlighted the value of community engagement in sustaining creative traditions and opening opportunities for international cultural dialogue. The programme was facilitated by Wang Liang, a foreign expert at Shangluo University. The ceremony included the introduction of guests, presentation of honours, speeches and a group photograph. The hospitality of the local hosts and the efforts of the organising team contributed to a welcoming and memorable occasion.

Cao Shui served in the gathering as a keynote speaker, offering his congratulations to Mr. Dong Faliang on receiving the literary honours. In his remarks, he acknowledged the significance of the occasion and praised the value of continued dedication to poetry and literature. As a poet, writer and international literary representative, Cao Shui also spoke about the importance of cultural exchange and the role of literature in building connections, understanding and friendship across borders.

Representing Multicultural Press Australia, Võ Thị Như Mai took part in the presentation ceremony as an international poet, translator and publisher. Through publishing, translation and literary collaboration, Multicultural Press Australia seeks to create opportunities for writers from different cultural backgrounds to share their voices and experiences with wider audiences.

The Shangluo gathering reflected this commitment to cultural connection. Poetry crosses linguistic and geographical boundaries, allowing writers to express the particularities of their own cultures while exploring themes that resonate with readers everywhere. Such encounters offer opportunities to appreciate different literary traditions, encourage dialogue and strengthen friendships through a shared love of the written word.

Poetry gives language to memory, place, emotion and imagination. It allows individual voices to enter a wider conversation and enables cultural traditions to be shared beyond their original communities. In Shangluo, this special gathering brought together literary recognition, artistic fellowship and cultural exchange. It offered a moment to celebrate creative achievement while acknowledging the people and institutions that make literary encounters possible.

Multicultural Press Australia extends its warm appreciation to the hosts, organisers, participating writers, artists and cultural representatives for their contributions to the occasion. May the spirit of literature continue to connect communities, encourage mutual understanding and inspire new friendships across borders.
