The Giver Gives
The giver gives as well he should
who, truth be told, has understood
with clarity right from the start
what wondrous gift the human heart…
The giver gives as well he might
whose words and deeds reflect the light,
and so it goes he follows through
to emphasize what givers do…
The giver gives as well he can,
his place to take inside the “plan,”
the Universe that inked the score,
displayed in him what giving’s for.

Love’s The Answer
Despite the pledges so often made,
the best of intentions as our base,
what’s to suggest we’ve made the grade
if love’s not given its proper place?
And what is proper and what is right
with the days that pass and years that fly,
but that we’d answer, with great delight,
that nothing precious has passed us by.
And what’s the measure of precious things,
and what’s the meter that sets apart?
Is it the glimmer of diamond rings
that springs eternal the human heart?
I say deeper, yes, far deeper still
the blazing banner that stems our hopes:
above and beyond mere human will
abides the Spirit that envelops.
This, then, the promise – the tie that binds –
to render lithe the dreadful dancer:
no greater treasure the seeker finds
than to apprise that love’s the answer.

Transcending Love
Pure love transcends the tomes of time –
the sacred “smoke” that staggers still -:
by bards addressed such rules in rhyme
as paints a piece in strokes sublime
in such a wise it always will.
Be known the spark that fanned the flame
that now takes up the timeless theme,
its embers hot, the scene’s the same,
no snuffing out its holy name –
eternal ash the draft of dream.
A wave of warmth assigned to each,
therefore to take our rightful place –
the light of lights within our reach,
that we may learn as well as teach,
a welcome smile on every face.

Richard Doiron’s three poems speak to readers from many cultures because they celebrate values that every community understands and cherishes. In The Giver Gives, he affirms the beauty of generosity in a way that feels universal. The poem reminds us that a true giver acts from clarity and kindness, and that giving is not simply an action but a reflection of the human heart. The poem presents giving as a natural part of the larger plan of the universe, and it encourages readers to see generosity as a source of light that strengthens human connection. In Love’s The Answer, Doiron affirms that love remains the most important measure of a meaningful life. He invites readers to look beyond material symbols and to recognize that the deepest treasures are found in compassion, spirit, and the joy of knowing that nothing precious has been missed. The poem gently guides us to understand that love is not only a feeling but a guiding force that helps us rise above fear and uncertainty. It affirms that love is the answer that brings people together across cultures, generations, and experiences. In Transcending Love, Doiron celebrates the power of love to move beyond time and circumstance. He affirms that pure love carries a sacred quality that inspires poets, strengthens hope, and lights the path for all who seek meaning. The poem speaks of warmth, learning, teaching, and the shared light that belongs to every human being. It encourages readers to recognize their place in the world and to welcome others with understanding and kindness. Together, these three poems form a gentle and uplifting message for a multicultural audience. They affirm that giving, loving, and transcending are not only personal acts but universal truths that help people everywhere build a more compassionate and peaceful world.
