Mahanaj Parvin, a gifted and versatile literary figure from Bangladesh, stands as a radiant example of how poetry can bridge human suffering, hope, and imagination. A romantic at heart and a fearless advocate for human dignity, she has woven a powerful tapestry of poems, stories, and novels that resonate with universal themes. Her words have travelled far beyond her homeland, appearing in numerous national and international publications, affirming her place as a voice of conscience and empathy. Her dedication to the literary arts and to social change has been recognized with honours such as the Change Maker Award in 2020, the Human Rights Award in 2021, and the Achievement Gujarat Sahitya Academy Award in 2021 — accolades that testify to her profound impact on readers and society alike. In her poem “Humanity,” Parvin paints a vivid portrait of those forsaken and broken by the world, yet still sheltered by the compassionate sky of humanity, reminding us that “people are for people” — a simple but powerful truth. In “Under the Yellow Sun,” she exposes the grotesque absurdity of war and violence, calling for peace and healing as the ultimate solution to the wounds of our fractured world. Finally, in “Color of Fantasy,” she lets us breathe and soar beyond the harshness of reality, inviting us to rediscover tenderness, imagination, and shared dreams, where love is the universal balm. Her verses — raw yet uplifting, tragic yet hopeful — reflect a deep-seated belief in the power of empathy and the possibility of transformation. Through her pen, Mahanaj Parvin has become more than a poet; she is a chronicler of our collective wounds and a messenger of hope, urging every reader to rise beyond the ruins of conflict and pain toward a future woven with love, peace, and harmony.
HUMANITY
Those who have no one at the end of the path,
There is no other way,
Walking in the shadow of fatigue alone on slow legs!
Sad thoughts flying overhead,
Enemy air comes into the body,
Love goes far!
Living in a wide tent of sorrow,
The story of the destruction of life
in the world of their minds.
‘Humanity’ became the sky over their heads.
Humanity walks before God.
Those people are chanting the name of humanity.
Father’s scent, mother’s caress,
rice dish in search of humanity.
Humanity is a shadow beside helpless people.
‘People are for people’ – this is the ultimate truth.
UNDER THE YELLOW SUN
Sigh comes from the blood!
Mountains of corpses
and the smell of gunpowder in the air!
The pistols that kill innocent lives give laughter!
Bullet bomb music in the tent for the purpose of murder!
The tools that cut the peace are joyful!
Democracy cries like a baby!
Humanity falls asleep under the yellow sun!
We are looking for humanity!
World conscience is confused today!
The world is intoxicated by the tension of terrible hatred.
We want to live from the grave of untimely death.
The time has come to end the war season.
Cry of a country means cry of every human heart!
Let’s make a peaceful settlement.
Touch every broken heart with peace.
Enough is enough, we just want peace and harmony.
All the people of the world are the highest gift of God!
COLOR OF FANTASY
Let’s float on the wings of fantasy!
Let’s get lost in the imagination,
Let’s see the moonlight today-
On the banks of a river,
Where unmarried butterflies fly!
Let’s see the full moon today-
Floating in the sweet air of the morning,
in the fountain of water.
Let’s get lost in the spring,
Let’s get lost in the city of emotions!
Waiting for a forgotten plot.
Let’s love each other very much-
Let’s tell the story of velvet color.
Don’t waste the moment-
Let’s gather love.
Millions of eyes live in memory-
Every heart carries the same love.
Let’s go to the intensive care unit-
Deep sleep relieves fatigue.
PSALM OF THE SOUL
The inter-city of the night runs towards the dawn,
Imagination creeps through the windows of the night room,
Sometimes loud, sometimes slow, like the wind,
I passed the test of emotion.
Psalm of the soul is rich.
Great rain on tin roof,
Lying on a palm leaf on the island, sees a bird’s nest,
The song of the waves of the sea,
In the middle of the virgin rice flowers of the field,
The moon falling from the breast of the night sky,
Yellow sun on the lips in the morning.
Everything has psalm of the soul.
Psalm of the soul gives flowery generosity
and embroidered restraints.
